Scholarship Opportunities

We are aware of the cost of a Christian school education and believe it as a wise investment in your child’s future. When you visit, we will provide information about the various scholarship opportunities Trinity provides and how we structure our tuition payment plan to assist families in reaching their goal of sending their child to Trinity.

Trinity offers three scholarship programs. There is no fee to apply to any program, and we strongly suggest you apply to any that you qualify for.

Programs award scholarships based on need.
The application deadline is Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Also, there will not be a second round of ILSTO awards for 2024-25. Please apply as early as possible.

Remember to complete both forms and to include the required supporting information.

Education Savings Accounts (ESA) will be available for all Kindergarten students, new students to Trinity, all students who qualified in 2023-2024, and current families whose income is at or below 400% of the 2024 Poverty Level. The ESAs are provided by the State of Iowa through your tax dollars, and provide funding to pay tuition. We encourage all families to learn more about ESAs. The deadline and amounts available for 2024-25 have not been announced.

ESA Application Process through your Odyssey account. (Jan. 2024: Link has changed)
Here’s what you need to know:
1. Log into your Odyssey account to apply for 2024-2025. The 2024-25 application window opens on April 16, 2024. New users will create a new account.
2. After approval, you must select the school your student will attend. Trinity confirms that your student is enrolled, and records their total tuition on Odyssey.
3. You must confirm the tuition amount with Odyssey.
4. In January, you must confirm the second half of tuition with Odyssey.

Trinity Lutheran School admits students of any race, sex, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, progress, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, national, and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, and athletics or other school-administered programs.

    Transportation Reimbursement

The nonpublic transportation reimbursement claim allows parents of children attending a non-public school to get reimbursed for a portion of their transportation costs. The funding for this program is appropriated by the legislature from the State of Iowa’s general fund. If you live more than two miles from the school, you may be eligible for this significant reimbursement.
Pre-Kindergarten is not eligible for transportation reimbursement.
Forms are sent home in October and March.

Potential Tax Savings & 529 Accounts

Recent tax law changes by the federal government have expanded the role 529 savings plans play in education funding. Under the new tax law, up to $10,000 per year from a 529 plan can be used for K-12 private school tuition. You may also be able to take advantage of the Iowa Tuition and Textbook Credit for each dependent child who attends a private, accredited Iowa school. Consult your tax advisor.
