Music at Trinity

From St. Paul, in Colossians 3:16:
"Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one anotherwith psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”

The Music Ministry at Trinity seeks to proclaim God's Word through music; uphold the fine liturgical heritage of the Lutheran Church; encourage and promote participation in and appreciation for the music of the Christian Church; and reach out to the community through music. "Soli Deo Gloria." (Glory To God Alone.)

“The aim and final reason of all music should be nothing else but the Glory of God and the refreshment of the spirit.” -- Johann Sebastian Bach

At Trinity, we seek, by God's grace, to accomplish the important goals described above through the presentation of a rich variety of the best of all appropriate musical styles and composers as determined by the appointed scripture readings for the day.  This variety includes long-standing hymnody as well as spirited new hymns and songs — all performed with freshness, a broad range of instrumentation, and stylistic integrity.  Above all, worship music at Trinity is centered on glorifying God by uplifting and enriching the collective singing voice of His people — the congregation — the primary choir!

If you are interested in assisting in this important mission through participation in a vocal or handbell choir or ensemble (high school and up), Forgiven worship ensemble (high school and up), or as a vocal or instrumental soloist (all ages), please contact Director of Music Dr. Susan Benya at or through church office at 366-1569 or

Our very own school offers a fine music program for instrumentalists, handbell ringers, and singers. There are opportunities for all ages, and musical programs/concerts are offered throughout the year. Some of these include our Fall Concert, the Pre-K-3 Christmas Program, the Good Friday Noon service, the Spring Concert, the Operetta, and weekly chapel services. For more information, please contact Susan Benya or TLS Band Director Leslie Drees through the school at 362-6952.

Among our many fine instruments, Trinity is blessed to own a 7-foot Schimmel grand piano, a fine Schlicker pipe organ (built in 1966, two manuals, 19 ranks, refurbished by Berghaus Organ Builders 2015), several Clavinova keyboards, Orff and percussion instruments, and a 4-octave set of Schulmerich handbells (refurbished 2015).
